Traversing the Path of a Rug's Creation FROM CONCEPT TO CREATION
Design
Our brand's rug design process blends contemporary and traditional elements, creating pieces that enhance everyday living. Our talented designers draw from cultural heritage and modern aesthetics, starting with thorough research and meticulous sketches. This collaborative effort ensures each design is a perfect harmony of old and new.
We offer customizable and bespoke options, allowing clients to choose colors, patterns, and materials for a truly personalized rug. Each piece reflects your unique taste and lifestyle. From concept to creation, our rugs embody quality, creativity, and satisfaction, fitting seamlessly into your home.
Spinning
When crafting each rug, the journey begins with selecting the right materials. The thin fibers chosen for weaving undergo a meticulous spinning process, where multiple strands are intertwined to thicken and fortify the fibers, ensuring durability and preventing pilling in the final rug.
For yarns, meticulous preparation is crucial. The fibers are sorted by natural color and carefully combed using a technique called carding, which involves using two wire brushes. We use semi-worsted yarns for our rugs, a premium choice that removes shorter fibers and aligns longer ones in the same direction, resulting in a softness that enhances the overall comfort and luxury of the finished product.
Dyeing
In our pursuit of crafting rugs that epitomize beauty and individuality, we pay meticulous attention to color. With a palette of over three thousand shades, each yarn is dyed to perfection, ensuring a bespoke touch for every creation.
Central to our dyeing process is our revered Dye Master, a role steeped in tradition and entrusted with the delicate task of infusing yarn with vibrant hues. This esteemed position, passed down through generations, requires both exceptional skill and a profound passion for color.
Under the Master’s watchful eye, each yarn undergoes a precise transformation, with every pigment formulation meticulously recorded for consistency. The Dye Master guides fellow dyers, ensuring each color is adjusted and perfected until it meets our exacting standards.
This meticulous approach ensures that each rug is not only a masterpiece of color but also a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence and craftsmanship.
Weaving
Skilled artisans meticulously create each rug on traditional looms, weaving intricate designs with precision. Picture them at work, utilising both flat and vertical frames to bring patterns to life. On flat looms, the interplay of warp and weft produces mesmerising motifs, while vertical looms serve as canvases for elaborate tapestries. Every movement is deliberate, every thread carefully chosen, as they infuse each fibre with a story.
From selecting premium materials to the final finishing touches, the process is infused with dedication and expertise. Each rug narrates a unique tale, reflecting the culture and heritage of its makers. It's a labour of love, where every knot and stitch is a testament to the artisan's skill and passion. Explore our collection of handcrafted rugs, and you'll discover more than just fabric – you'll encounter a rich tapestry of artistry and tradition, ready to enhance your home with beauty and grace.
Washing
Each rug is a labour of love, requiring months of meticulous hand-knotting. Throughout this process, dust and debris may accumulate, prompting our thorough washing regimen.Ours undergo 2-3 wash cycles. This additional washing not only ensures cleanliness but also encourages the pile to open up, further softening the fibres.
During washing, the rugs are fully immersed in water with a gentle, non-toxic detergent. They are then laid flat and carefully paddled, a method that not only cleans but also promotes uniformity in pile direction.
Following washing, the rugs are placed on stretching frames to achieve the desired size and shape. As they dry in the sun, they are reshaped to exact measurements, ensuring a flawless finish. This meticulous attention to detail at every stage of production ensures that each rug emerges as a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
Finishing
The completion of a rug involves several meticulous steps, tailored to the specific type of rug being crafted—whether hand-knotted or flatwoven.Regardless of style, each rug receives a hand-sewn binding along the edges. This binding is carefully wound around the warp and weft edges, ensuring durability and preventing unravelling. For added design versatility, contrasting colours may be employed to impart a unique flair.
Following this, the surface of the rug undergoes a precise trimming process to remove any stray threads. In hand-knotted rugs, the pattern is meticulously embossed by hand, delicately trimming the perimeter to enhance definition and highlight the intricacies of the design.
These final touches are as crucial as the weaving process itself, entrusted to skilled artisans who specialise in this intricate handwork. Their expertise ensures that each rug is meticulously finished to perfection, embodying the artistry and dedication woven into every thread.

FLATWEAVE - RUGS THAT LAST
Exemplifying effortless sophistication, the flatweave rug serves as an ideal subtle addition to any space. With its roots tracing back to ancient traditions, this rug style is believed to have originated as early as the fourth or fifth century, maintaining its timeless appeal through centuries of craftsmanship.
Created on a horizontal loom, these rugs are meticulously crafted using premium materials such as high-grade New Zealand wool and organic cotton. Their unique weave structure lends itself beautifully to linear and geometric designs, accentuating the rug's grid-like pattern.
Due to their low-pile construction, flatweave rugs effortlessly enhance both carpeted and hardwood floors, seamlessly blending into any interior setting. Additionally, their reversible nature ensures longevity, allowing for extended use as the identical pattern graces both the front and back surfaces.
HANDLOOM RUG CREATIONS
Ideal for quicker turnaround times, our handloom rug styles deliver a knotted appearance while being meticulously crafted on a loom, ensuring enduring quality that transcends generations. These rugs boast a dense pile, exuding a genuine sense of opulence.
Unlike traditional knot-by-knot methods, our handloom rugs are meticulously woven row-by-row, akin to fabric production on a loom. This process involves shuttles carrying the weft fibers between the warp, with the warp changed using foot-operated pedals.
While the loom facilitates swift production, it excels particularly with linear patterns and solid colors, which can later undergo hand-finishing stages to emboss patterns onto the surface. Popular styles include solid rugs with borders, stripes, and a combination of loop and cut pile, showcasing the versatility and artistry of this weaving technique.
